Viral video finds new life as a Young Adult novel.
Filmmakers Christopher and Christine Kezelos turn the viral success of their multi-award-winning short film The Maker, into a Young Adult fantasy novel titled The Magnum Opus.
After a successful international film festival campaign, The Maker won 23 awards, including a nomination for an Australian Academy Award. The film has since been viewed over 16 million times online.
The creative duo originally pitched a feature film version of their short to countless Hollywood studios and production companies. After much interest but no sale, Christopher and Christine decided to try another approach.
“We wanted to share our story with the fans of ‘The Maker’ and not have to wait for a film to be green-lit in order to do that”, says Christine Kezelos. “Yes it’s a different medium, but we believed that our fans would come along on the journey and enjoy the magical world we’ve imagined”
Christopher Kezelos sees the novel as an extension of the film. “We continue the tone and whimsical feel of the short while expanding upon the world. The Magnum Opus is an epic tale of self-discovery, the awakening of a people, and how united we can transform our world ”.
The Magnum Opus has won three industry book awards and is available in paperback and eBook format on Amazon, Apple Books, and the Google Play store.
